Open Season . . .

On crawfish that is!  Our crew piled all of our gear into our dinghy and set out to do some hunting!  We did well - a dozen tails including an especially large one speared by Marco :)

A Heavy Harvest

Our pumpkin patch produced some sizable squash!  So far we have picked a nine pounder and a seven pounder.

And preparing it for dinner was quite an experience - note the hammer in the background!

Our harvest included 16 lbs. of eggplant!

Summer Days

The kids are back after three weeks away.  I no longer have the option of being bored :)  They are quite busy!

We started the morning by chopping open some coconuts:

And, while looking for a lizard to add to our collection, we found THIS:
(BTW  that is a quart size jar!)

We caught our ducks mating - leading to lots of questions for me :)

We also treated a very badly injured chick who, after much prayer, seems to be recovering leading to isolation from all of the big chickens for the others.

Renovations . . .

For the chickens!  The big chickens received a cage extension in an effort to regain control of egg production  :)  We had to resort to buying eggs from the store because all of the chickens were hiding them from me.  Now they are confined to the cage with an option for parole in the afternoons AFTER laying their eggs.  We also rounded up our missing hens and their new chicks (the obvious result of egg hiding)  Our chicks from the beginning of the year are full grown and laying now too.
