Sunday Fun Day

The kids enjoyed a sleepover at the Holdom's last weekend before school started and then we all got together for a family afternoon.  We devoured a delicious lunch including watermelon for dessert.

Then the boys (including the adult ones) spent some time playing with - read crashing - a remote control plane.  After it had reached the point of no return they completely dismantled it to see what they could create.

A couple of hours later . . .

They went through a few more iterations (and cars) before settling on a design they liked.

Meanwhile the girls were exploring the possibilities of some garden pots when we found . . .

a huge Black Widow spider - a creature both intriguing and intimidating.

RIP Puppy

Last week we lost a very old member of our family - our family dog.  We purchased "Baby" when I was 16!  That made him 15 years old (yes, I am 31) or 105 in dog years!  Although he was named Baby because of his tiny size, our family never called him anything but "Puppy" and he kept behaving like an energetic puppy up until about six months ago.  It was hard to believe he was such an old dog.  It is also hard to believe he is gone but I enjoy picturing him restored to his old energy levels and tugging on the leash in Gordon's hand in heaven.

Guess What?!

Our duck is laying!  I peeked into the pen today to make sure I didn't drop any food in the nest she had built and I saw not one . . . not two . . . not even three . . . or four . . . but five eggs!

Afternoon Adventure

Emerging Equestrian

Madison is sooooo excited.  She is starting horse-riding lessons next week.  She has been begging to do this for a very long time and I finally managed to work it out.  She is also fully outfitted - thanks to a local Mom who is moving away :)
