Our First Time . . .
The time came to harvest - read slaughter - our first rooster. When acquiring "hens" from Harbour Island we inadvertently included a young rooster. We had not raised him from a baby, we were not emotionally attached: we had no excuse if we wanted to call ourselves farmers. We isolated him overnight with lots of water but no food. We slaughtered him on Thanksgiving day. I took a LOT of photos but will leave out the "gross" ones :) Look closely at the kids faces - that is the best part.
